Hello Friday, tis well you’re looking! As the hours tick by until clocking-off time, let’s look at the endless…ok maybe not endless, but the many possibilities the upcoming weekend has to offer in and around town…

Friday

1. Roll Up, Roll Up!

Yes folks, the circus is in town, or more accurately, the National Circus Festival. It started on Thursday and continues all weekend with many events around town to entertain young and old. Click here for more on free shows and locations for performances over the weekend.

2. Go And Party

You have an excuse – Ireland are playing Scotland in the soccer tonight. Where to go? You can watch the match in The Brogue,  or The Abbey Inn where all cocktails are €5.  It’s Mojito Friday with latin beats in Roundy’s Bar while ‘The Blasket’s Sugar’ club night will have you tearing up the dance floor. Good luck with Saturday morning though.

Saturday

3. Shop Til You Drop…Or Run Out Of cash

Less than six weeks to go now. Get all your Christmas shopping done over the weakend and become an insufferable, smug bore on Monday when you go back to work.

4. Bring A Bit Of Joy Into Your Life

Author and journalist, Breda Joy, will be signing copies of her very fine ‘Hidden Kerry’ book in Eason’s on Saturday at 2.30pm. It contains some amazing places and colourful characters from the Kingdom you may not have come across before.

Sunday

5. Can’t Stop The Rock?

The parade from Connolly Park (leaving at 12.45pm sharp!) is promising to be one of the most colourful ever as Austin Stacks aim to reach the Munster Final. Whether you support them or not, why not go and see if they can overcome Ballincollig at Austin Stack Park at 2pm.

6. Laugh All The Way To Monday

Sadly, the weekend is almost over, but there’s time for one last bit of craic. The legendary Brendan Grace is performing in Ballyroe Heights Hotel. Call the hotel on 066-7126796 for details.

Right, back to work then…
