FENIT Development Association has welcomed the decision by An Bord Pleanala to grant permission for the restoration of diving boards at Fenit after an absence of 25 years.

Permission was granted subject to conditions and amendments to the plan. However, funding for the construction of the project is now needed while Kerry County Council will insure and maintain the facility once it’s up and running.

According to Chairperson of the Fenit Development Association, Mike O’Neill who issued a statement on behalf of the Association, this decision means that Fenit will have a fully functional and safe outdoor diving facility available to the public during the summer months when the tides are favourable.

“The boards will add hugely to Fenit as a fun, healthy and sustainable activity for visitors and locals alike,” read the statement.
