FUNDING of €1,198,846.73 has been announced this morning for Kerry Airport towards operating expenses.

This Government funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport will go towards the operating costs associated with providing essential services in the areas of safety and security and is in addition to a further over €1 million announced by Kerry Fine Gael TD and Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, for Kerry Airport earlier this year for capital works.

The Government also provides €7.252m for operating the two PSO services between Dublin and Kerry and Dublin and Donegal.

Minister Griffin said; “I am glad to see this substantial funding coming to Kerry, on top of the large capital grant for Kerry Airport that I announced earlier this year and the continued Kerry Dublin flight subsidy. The Government’s continued strong support for Kerry Airport represents major support for rural Ireland and is helping to sustain jobs and create new ones.”
