Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí Students Win Prize At National Junk Kouture Awards

‘Fear Leighis Na Mara Plaisteach’ which won the ‘Most Unusual Material Award’ at the Junk Kouture final.

GAELCHOLAISTE Chiarraí students were among the prize winners at the national final of the Junk Kouture competition at the 3 Arena last night.

With thousands attending the event, the Tralee school was represented by ‘Fear Leighis Na Mara Plaisteach’ from Lennox Beaujouan, Peadar Toibin and Seán Ó Loingsigh. They won the ‘Most Unusual Material Award’ for their design made of fish skins.

Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture is a national contest which encourages young designers in second level education to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin.

It was a colourful event with amazing designs from students from all over the country. Louis Walsh and Pippa O’Connor were among the judges.
