A YOUNG girl who suffers from a rare condition handed over a cheque for €5,000 to an organisation which has done so much for her over the past number of years.

Erin O’Sullivan who is a sufferer of a rare condition called Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) handed over the cheque raised by her father Paul who had his beard and hair shaved off in July at their house on Saturday morning.

“The reason we decided to raise money for the A-T Society is because they have been looking after Erin, they have been amazing so it’s our own way of giving something back,” said Paul O’Sullivan.

The chief executive of  the A-T Society, William Davis, was there at the family home in Gort na Greine, Gallowsfield, to receive the cheque.

“The family have done an incredible job. Because A-T is such rare condition it means there is very little research done into it, so this money will go a long way. But it’s not just about the money they have raised, it’s about awareness as well, it’s very inspiring,” said William Davis of the A-T Society.

“Erin is a delightful child. What the A-T Society can do is give financial supports. We can help accessing services to make sure she can keep running around and smiling for as long as possible,” said William.
