AS is the norm with footballers of Paul Galvin’s vintage, the question of retirement from inter-county football was posed to him last night on Newstalk’s ‘Off The Ball’ programme.
The 35 year-old-paused for a moment and gave a carefully worded answer.
“I haven’t spoken to Eamonn, I’d have to talk to the manager,” said Galvin.
“I would say it’s unlikely from a work point of view. I’ve two collections coming out next year, in February and late July/August and that is a priority. I’ll have to have a discussion with Eamonn first.”

After bowing out in 2013, Galvin, made a shock return to the Kerry panel in March of this year. He described how the season transpired as “disappointing”
“It was quite disappointing really. It didn’t work out the way I would have liked obviously…I didn’t play enough.”

Though the season didn’t go as planned – featuring as a substitute three times he made minimal impact on the field of play – Paul still feels it was something he had to do.
“The point is I put myself in the firing line and when you do that you have to accept the consequences of that at all. It was something I felt I had to do and I feel I reached good levels in training and that transfer to the important days,” he said.
