Garda Car Rammed As Suspected Cocaine Worth €14,000 Seized In Tralee

GARDAI have charged a man in his 30s in relation to the seizure of suspected cocaine worth approximately €14,000 on Sunday in Tralee.

He is due to appear before the courts at a later date. A man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s who were also arrested yesterday were released without charge.

It follows an incident that occurred at a Garda checkpoint on Pembroke Street, Tralee, on Sunday. Shortly before 2am, Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit in Tralee attempted to stop a car at a checkpoint on Pembroke Street.

The car failed to stop and drove off at speed. Following a pursuit, in which a Garda car was rammed, the three suspects were arrested in Tralee Town Centre.

A search of the car was carried out which resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine worth approximately €14,000 along with drug paraphernalia.

The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis. The car involved in the incident was also seized.

The three suspects were brought to Tralee Garda Station and where detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. No member of An Garda Síochána was injured during the incident.
