Gardaí Investigate Damage To Cars In Ballyheigue

garda_1GARDAÍ are investigating after a number of cars were damaged in Ballyheigue village recently.

The incidents happened in the early hours of Sunday October 11, where there were five thefts from vehicles. Documentation and paperwork were removed from some of the vehicles and burnt nearby.

In four of the cases there was criminal damage done to the vehicles – in one case a car was burnt out completely. A vehicle parked nearby also had fire damage, another vehicle also had fire damage, while a windscreen was broken in another vehicle.

Gardaí believe all cases of damage were done by the same person/persons. The majority of the vehicles were unlocked at the time. All crime scenes have been technically examined and gardai are awaiting the forensic results.

CCTV footage has been examined and gardaí are asking the public to contact them if they saw a male, or males, acting suspiciously in the Harty’s Terrace area between 4.30am and 6.30am,  between 6.30am and 7am at Main Street, Ballyheigue, and the small square near the entrance to Ballyheigue Golf Club. Also between 7am and 8.30am in the Harty’s Terrace area.

Gardai are appealing to taxi drivers or people who may have been out walking or heading to work, if they saw anything, to please contact Ballyheigue Garda Station on 066-7133122.
