GARDAI in Tralee have again appealed to the public for information after a theft from a jewellers in Tralee on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 3pm, two engagement rings of significant value were stolen from Hilser’s on Castle Street (please note an earlier version of this report erroneously gave the location of the theft as Billy Nolan’s on Dominick Street).

A man entered the shop and asked to see the two rings. When they were produced, he grabbed them and ran out of the shop and into a bright red Renault Clio which sped off.

The man is described as 5 ft 8″, sallow skin complexion, black hair and may be of Eastern European origin.

Gardaí say the bright red Renault Clio, with an 07-KY registration and multi-spoke alloy wheels, is very distinctive so they are asking the public if they have seen this vehicle, or have any information in relation to the theft, to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.
