Gardaí Apprehend Driver Who Tried To Leave Scene Of Road Collision

GARDAI and the emergency services in Tralee responded to a report of a collision involving vehicles in the Rathass area of town at lunchtime today.

Gardaí say the driver who caused the collision tried to drive away but was apprehended by Gardaí who arrived shortly after the emergency call.

This driver was treated for injuries and transferred to hospital where Gardai say a specimen will be required to determine if they were driving while intoxicated.

As a result of the driver’s actions, two other persons in other vehicle were injured and treated by Paramedics from National Ambulance Service (NAS) before being transferred to hospital.

The road has now reopened following investigations carried out by Tralee Gardaí. Four units of Kerry Fire and Rescue Service, five ambulances and five Garda Units were involved in the response to the incident.
