Gardaí have arrested a man in his late 20s in relation to an attempted robbery at a takeaway in East End, Ballybunion last night.
Shortly after midnight, a man entered the takeaway armed with what is believed to be an iron bar and demanded money from staff.
He caused some damage to the cash register but was unable to get any money. He then left the takeaway in the direction of Ahafona Cross.

Gardaí from Ballybunion Garda Station attended the scene and were able to ascertain details of the man believed to have been involved.
A patrol of the area was carried out and shortly before 1am Gardaí arrested a man at a house in the area.
He is currently detained at Listowel Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
