Gardaí Investigate Hit And Run, Break-Ins And Theft Incidents In Tralee Area

GARDAI are investigating a number of thefts, break-ins and a hit and run incident in the Tralee area over the past week.

On Monday, February 24, at about 10.30pm, a woman noticed a man in her car in the Ballinorg area of town.

The male fled the car with a sum of money. Gardaí are asking if anyone noticed anything suspicious in the area around this time to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.

On Tuesday, February 25, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, a man returned to his apartment at The Parklands area to find the front door kicked in. While there was damage caused to the doorframe, entry was not gained and no property was stolen.

On Thursday, February 27 at 5.35am at the Cathair Danann area off North Circular Road, a person heard a noise outside and looked out the window to see a man acting suspiciously around his vehicle. When the man went out to his vehicle, he noticed two toolboxes had been taken from it.

Also on Thursday last, at about 3pm in the car park of  Manor West Shopping Centre, a man selling a set of knives approached a woman. She produced her purse and the man took €100 from it without her permission and fled.

Again on Thursday, at about 3.25pm on Ashe Street, a woman returned to her vehicle to find the registration plates torn off her car.

Also on Thursday, at about 8pm, a cyclist was struck by a vehicle on Brewery Road near the greyhound stadium and the car was travelling in the direction of Rock Street. The cyclist suffered minor injuries.

The vehicle, which failed to stay at the scene, was silver in colour and possibly a Volkswagen Golf.

On Saturday night/Sunday morning, between 11pm and 8am, a house was burgled at Lee Drive in Ballinorig. Access was gained through an unlocked back door and several items, including cash and wallets, were stolen.
