GARDAÍ are questioning a man in connection with the seizure of €200,000 worth of cannabis, a firearm and ammunition in Fenit and Barrow back in November.

A number of other people have already appeared before the courts in relation to the seizure, but Gardaí made another arrest on Monday afternoon.

The 35 year old man was arrested in Navan, Co. Meath and brought to Tralee Garda Station where he has been held for the last two days.

He’s being held under Section 30 of the Criminal Justice Act in relation to the unlawful possession of firearms at 2A Lighthouse Village, Fenit.

Gardaí discovered two cannabis growhouses at the Fenit address as well as at Barrow West on November 8.

A handgun, ammunition and a bullet proof vest were found during the search of the Fenit premises.

The man’s period of detention was extended by another 24 hours yesterday afternoon and there is provision there to detain him for a further 24 hours.
