GARDAÍ have released without charge a male arrested in connection with the serious assault on a man in his 20s in Killeen Woods on Wednesday night.

The man in his 30’s, who is a foreign national, had been detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tralee Garda Station in connection with the assault.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The other male who was arrested, in his 20’s, remains in custody under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Killarney Garda Station.

The injured male in his 20’s remains in a critical condition in Kerry General Hospital.

Supt Jim O’Connor said there were “very serious injuries inflicted” on the man, who is a foreign national.

Supt O’Connor, who appealed to anyone who was in the Killeen Woods area between 10pm and 11pm and saw anything suspicious to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.

The man in his twenties was discovered by the emergency services in the front garden of a house in Killeen Woods at 10.30pm on Wednesday night.

Two men in their late 20s and early 30s were arrested near the scene a short time later.
