Gardaí Renew Appeal For Information On Fifth Anniversary Of Murder In Beaufort

GARDAI have renewed their appeal for information on the murder of a Beaufort man whose body was discovered at his home five years ago today.

On April 19, 2012, James Cahillane was discovered dead at his home at Ardraw, Beaufort, Killarney.

On April 18, 2012, James Cahillane spent a number of hours in a pub in Killorglin before getting a taxi home, approximately 5 kms from Killorglin.

At about 2:05am on April 19, neighbours noticed a fire at the home of James Cahillane. The fire services attended and the body of James Cahillane was discovered at the scene.

Following a post mortem examination a murder investigation commenced and despite great assistance provided by the public this crime remains unsolved.

On the 5th anniversary of this crime, a further appeal is being made for information. This investigation will be featured in the upcoming edition of RTE’s Crime Call which will be aired on Monday April 24.
