GARDAÍ are seeking the public’s help after a spate of burglaries in the mid-Kerry area over the past number of days.

A substantial amount of jewellery, estimated to be worth in the thousands of euro, was stolen in a burglary at Chestnut Bridge in the Firies/Gurrane area on Thursday night.

Gardaí say the theft took place from a private house between 11pm to 11.50pm on June 18. The items included a gold wedding ring, an eternity ring, gold brooch, five-stone ruby ring, charm bracelet, Tommy Hilfiger Watch and three-stone engagement ring among many other items.

Gardaí expect the thieves will attempt to sell on the items so if anyone is offered jewellery or if anyone was in the area at the time of the burglary on Thursday night and saw anything suspicious, they are asked to contact Castleisland or Farranfore Garda Station.

Then on Sunday, June 21, between 1pm and 7pm in the Ardconnaught, Castlemaine area, a house was broken into and a quantity of cash was taken from a wardrobe.

Then, between 9pm on Saturday, June 20 and 7pm on Sunday evening at Shanahill West in Keel, Castlemaine, an elderly man had a quantity of cash taken from his wardrobe.

Gardaí say its possible these two incidents are related.

If anyone saw anything suspicious in the areas mentioned around this time they are asked to contact Garda Declan Kelly on 087-1334817 or any garda station.
