Gardaí Urge Motorists To Be More Cautious Now Children Are On Holidays

GARDAI are asking motorists to exercise extra care when driving on roads and in estates now that schoolchildren are on their summer break.

Tralee Community Garda, Mary Gardiner, speaking on Deirdre Walsh’s ‘Talkabout’ programme on Radio Kerry this afternoon, said there will be more children walking and cycling on the roads and in estates over the next two months now that school has finished.

She said road users need to be more careful when travelling in estates as young children will be playing and could run out on the road unexpectedly.

She also urged people to wear hi-vis jackets in the evenings when out walking. These free jackets can be picked up from Tralee Garda Station.
