Gardaí Warn Of Counterfeit Notes In Circulation In Tralee

GARDAI are warning businesses to be aware that counterfeit €50 notes may be in circulation in Tralee.

On Friday, March 15, gardaí became aware of two incidents where fake notes were tendered at businesses in the town.

One business discovered the note was fake after the fact, while the other noticed immediately and the person trying to pass it off left the business in a hurry when confronted.

Gardaí are asking businesses to be vigilant and test all €50 notes before taking them. If they suspect it’s fake, retain the note and contact the gardaí immediately.

Meanwhile, gardaí are also again warning about scam calls. They have received reports of calls from 051-347503. The person is claiming to be from the local tax office.

Gardai say if you receive a call from this number, do not engage or give them any personal information.
