GARDAI are warning businesses and the public that high quality counterfeit €50 notes are currently in circulation in the Tralee area.
One was handed into the station in Tralee, while three were tendered at a business in Abbeydorney.
Some of these notes contain many of the security features of real €50 notes. Gardaí say the ridges along the side of the note were more prominent than on real notes.
They say the best way to determine if the note is real or not, is by using the special markers that businesses use behind the counter, which, when used, will show up black/blue on fake notes but clear on genuine notes.
