GARDAI are warning businesses to be aware of a scam where people coming in looking for change.
An incident happened in Tralee last week where a male entered a shop. He wanted to change a large amount of notes into different denominations.
After the transaction was completed, he changed his mind and wanted his original notes back. While doing so, he siphoned away around half the money unknown to the staff member.

After viewing CCTV from the shop, a male has been arrested. Gardaí are advising businesses not to change large amounts of money for customers unless they know them.
If it’s a stranger, tell them to go to the bank to change their money. They are also recommending businesses check to see that their CCTV is working at all times and is of good quality.
