Garvey’s Supervalu Tralee staff celebrate the prestigious award with awards host Hector O’Heochagain.
GARVEY’S Supervalu in Tralee scooped the National Store of the Year award at the Retail Excellence awards last night.
The Tralee store was one of two Kerry stores — along with Vodafone Killarney — in the running for the prestigious top prize and hopes were high when they were announced in the Top 5 shortlist earlier on in the night at the lavish awards ceremony in The Malton Hotel in Killarney.
Then they were announced as the overall winners sparking huge celebrations.

It’s fitting that they received the accolade as the Rock Street store is celebrating 25 years in business this year.
They are no stranger to awards having won the Best Large Supermarket category in the 2017 Checkout Best in Fresh Awards back in July.
Retail Excellence is the largest retail industry representative organisation in Ireland, and the Store of the Year competition is the central part of the Retail Excellence Annual Awards, which were established in 1997 to promote best practice and encourage the highest standards in the Irish retail industry.
