THINGS just get better and better for Garvey’s Supervalu in Rock Street.
The 2017 Checkout Best in Fresh Awards were held this afternoon in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin and the supermarket was announced as winner in the Best Large Supermarket category.
It follows on from the success of its sister supermarket, Garveys Supervalu Dingle, which won that category in last year’s awards.
The Rock Street supermarket celebrated its 25th anniversary of its opening just two weeks ago, so the celebrations will no doubt continue with this news.

The Checkout Best in Fresh Awards have been designed to reward, encourage and promote excellence in fresh-food retailing in Ireland, with retailers of all sizes and formats recognised for their high standards in this area.
The awards are open to all retail groups and independent retailers, including multiples, symbol groups, discounters and non-affiliated stores.
Taking place each year during the summer, the award categories cover everything from fruit-and-veg offerings to fresh meat and fish, as well as food to go. They also include six supplier awards, which are determined by the industry and include bakery, fruit-and-veg, meat, seafood, dairy and equipment suppliers.
