THERE’S just six weeks to go until a most unusual world record will be attempted in Listowel and the organisers are encouraging people from all over the county to get channel their inner-Dolly for great causes.

‘Dolly Day’ is an attempt to set a World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing a full head- to-toe Dolly Parton costume, in aid of The Kerry Hospice and Comfort for Chemo Kerry.

The organisers were joined by writer and publican Billy Keane in Skelper Quane’s in Blennerville on Thursday for a photo to drum up support for the event in the Tralee area.

The idea is to create a new record by getting as many people as possible wearing a full head-to-toe Dolly Parton costume at Frank Sheehy Park in Listowel. There’ll be great entertainment on the day and some very special guests will be attending .

Costumes worn by participants must be based on clothes worn by Dolly Parton during a public appearance or performance.

The full list of criteria can be found on the eventbrite page where you can buy tickets at €30 (+ €3.15 fee) for the event. Remember, it’s for two great causes and it’ll be a lot of fun so head north to Listowel on Saturday, June 24th.
