TRALEE is the perfect spot to ring in the New Year with the family and there are plans to give the decade a major send off and cheer in the new year with a big street party.

At 5pm on Tuesday, December 31, the ultimate disco band UV5 take to the Denny Street Stage to get things started.

UV5 are described as ‘the gold standard of live music entertainment. Delivering high energy shows around Ireland, the UK and Europe. With a set expertly designed for the dance floor, UV5 are a four-piece disco inferno that will whip crowds into a frenzy, and keep them coming back for more every time’.

Ken Tobin of Tralee Chamber says; “The live band are fantastic fun, and definitely for all ages. By starting early, we give a chance for everyone to come down and get something to eat or do some shopping, before heading off to Denny Street for the party at 5pm, and once the street party is over it means the kids can be dropped home in time for Moms and Dads to maybe hit the town to celebrate some more.”

“There is a late-bar exemption as usual right throughout the town on New Year’s Eve, and the bars will have some excellent entertainment lined up”.

“We want to say a special thanks to our supporters of the Fireworks for sponsoring the cost of it this year, and also to the everyone who has helped our team to organise the New Year’s event and the other events throughout Christmas, including the great support from the Tralee MD of Kerry County Council along with the volunteers, stewards and the local businesses who got involved”.

Organisers recommend getting to Denny Street early with Denny Street (from Park Lane around to Ivy Terrace) closed to traffic from 4pm. UV5 are going to play from 5-7pm, pausing at 6pm to count-down the Fireworks show, before kicking the party into another gear to keep the crowds entertained.

“The party is bigger and better than any previous years, but like previous years, we expect large numbers from all over Kerry to come and celebrate in the County’s capital, so our advice is to get there early,” said Ken.

The New Year’s Eve Fireworks by Tralee Chamber Alliance is supported by Kerry County Council’s Community Support Fund and lead-sponsor Cara Credit Union, along with sponsorship from Borg Warner, Yummy Café and Manor West Retail Park.
