THERE’S not long to go until a Republic of Ireland and Liverpool FC legend comes to The Huddle Bar for a night not to be missed by football fans.

Paul Lowth of The Huddle on Strand Street brought Ronnie Whelan to the bar in April and now Ronnie’s former teammate Ray Houghton will be interviewed onstage to tell some stories and talk on all things football on Sunday, October 9.

Tickets are selling fast and Paul promises a great night’s entertainment, with the Premiership clash of Arsenal v Liverpool (4.30pm) preceding the event, MC’d by Neil Madigan, which is due to begin at 7pm.

Finger food will also be served on the night and it’ll be followed by karaoke, with Ray promising to sing the first song!

After the success of the night in April, Paul said he wants to bring more Republic of Ireland legends of the past to the pub and is currently working on booking a former Man United player for a future date.

While Ray Houghton enjoyed League titles and FA Cup success with Liverpool, he also won a League Cup with Oxford United in 1986 and played with West Ham, Fulham, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Reading and Stevenage Borough during a storied club career.

He’ll forever be remembered though for the winning goals against England at Euro 88 and against the Italians at Giants Stadium during the 1994 World Cup.

This is a ticket only event and they can be purchased for €20 by calling into The Huddle Bar on Strand Street.
