Great Sadness Throughout The County At Passing Of Seán Hurley

SHOCK and sadness spread throughout the county yesterday at the news of the passing of well-known broadcaster and Tralee native Sean Hurley.

Tributes have been paid from all over the county and beyond from people in the worlds of media, business, politics, entertainment and sport..

Based in Killarney, the presenter of the ‘Kerrywide’ programme was known far and wide and had been involved in the radio business since the 1970s when he worked with KLR.

He joined Radio Kerry in the early days of the station and became established as one of the station’s most familiar voices, with the ability to interview people on any subject with knowledge, professionalism, courtesy and charm.

A former winner of a PPI Radio Award, just this week he was shortlisted for this years IMRO Radio Awards for his ‘Kerrywide’ programme.

He was described by General Manager of Radio Kerry, Fiona Stack, this morning as one of life’s true gentlemen and a great ambassador for the station over the years.

She said all at Radio Kerry were heartbroken at the news of his passing and she extended the sympathies of all at the station to his family.
