A NUMBER of fun events are taking place at Harvey Norman Tralee over the next couple weeks for a fantastic cause.

This Saturday and Sunday sees it all kick-off with a static bikeathon event which sees staff taking turns cycling the distance from Kerry to Dublin while remaining in the store.

It’s all part of the ‘Making Homes with Peter McVerry Trust’, charity campaign running at Harvey Norman stores in Ireland the month.

The goal is to raise €170,000 and all monies raised will be donated to Peter McVerry Trust, a charity set up by Fr Peter McVerry in 1983 to reduce homelessness and the harm caused by drug misuse and social disadvantage.

Customers can make a donation in the buckets next to the bike, but they can also buy a product from Harvey Norman’s ‘Making Home’s’ collection and €5 will be donated to Peter McVerry Trust. Add €1 to your purchase at checkout and Harvey Norman will match it.

The following weekend on February 23/24 sees a ‘Breakfast of Champions’ event where staff members will plough into a monster breakfast from Denny Lane restaurant in a Man Vs Food type challenge.

Also, if comedy is your thing, then Harvey Norman has organised a stand-up show from acclaimed comedian Joe Rooney at Kerins O’Rahillys GAA Club on Saturday, March 2. Tickets €10 from Harvey Norman and Kerins O’Rahillys Club.

Finally, with on Sunday, March 3, Kevin O’Connor from Croí Restaurant will be giving a pancake demo just two days before Shrove Tuesday. It amounts to a great few weekends of fun at Harvey Norman.
