IT’S a charity event which has been going on for many years and even the closure of Caballs earlier this year won’t stop the annual St Vincent de Paul Toy appeal.

Ann Laide of Caballs did sterling work with Treasa Walsh and Marian Moore to make sure local children in need had a happy Christmas with a gift from their Santa’s list and now the staff of a newly opened toy store have taken up the mantle.

Sharon Sheehan and all at ‘Toys Upstairs’ above Kelliher’s Hardware on Rock Street, have joined forces with SVP for this Christmas.

“It’s the same idea as the previous years with Caballs Toymaster,” said Treasa Walsh, who co-ordintates the appeal once again with Marian Moore.

“You can buy a voucher which will be given to St Vincent de Paul or there’s also a donation box on the counter if people would prefer to give cash to help buy a present. With the help of Sharon and the rest of the staff here in ‘Toys Upstairs’, we hope people will make it a success again this year,” said Treasa.

“We are delighted to help out,” said Sharon Sheehan. “The appeal was always a success and it’s a local charity, so you want all the children to be happy at Christmas and receive a gift they ask for,” she added.

It’s always been a great success, so please give what you can to the appeal to ensure a local child’s Christmas will be a happy one.
