Here’s How Many New Cars Were Bought In Kerry Last Month

THE number of new car registrations in Kerry was 728 in January 2020, down just four on the same month last year.

Figures from The Society of the Irish Motor Industry also show a big increase in Petrol-Electric and Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid cars last month in the county compared to January 2019.

Toyota and Ford were the top selling makes last month with 104 each. There were 100 Hyundai cars sold, 62 Volkswagen and 56 Nissan cars making up the Top 5.

The Ford Focus was the most popular model at 49 units followed by Toyota Corolla (42), Hyundai Tucson (41), Ford Fiesta (32) and Nissan Quasquai (27).

Diesel cars were the biggest sellers at 338 (-17%) followed by Petrol cars at 261 (-0.38%), 99 Petrol Electric (+209%), 18 Electric (+12.5%), 9 Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid (+350%) and 3 Diesel Electric (none were sold in January 2019).

This is in line with 2019 figures which saw Petrol Electric new car sales rise by 25% and Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid sales up 60% and Electric car sales rise by 113% on 2018 figures.
