WITH just hours to go until the Rose of Tralee 2018 is crowned, the bookies have a  favourite in Waterford.

Kirsten Mate Maher, the 21 year old who is about to study multimedia at Waterford Institute of Technology, is 7/4 to win the title with Paddy Power but 4/1 in Boylesports (as of 12.45pm on Tuesday).

She already appeared on the show last night, as did second favourite Shauna Ray Lacey from Carlow who has shot up to 5/2 with PP and 9/2 at Boylesports in the betting.

The 24-year-old from Carlow town bravely revealed last night that her parents were heroin addicts when she was growing up.
