IT will be a case of rivalry renewed next month when the Bons and KGH staff take to the field in their annual soccer fundraiser.

IT will also be a chance to pay tribute to a Bon Secours staff member and soccer fan  who passed away last month.

On June 6 the Bon Secours hospital and Tralee General Hospital will do battle  to raise money for the Palliative Care Unit.

This is the second instalment of the rivalry and takes place on Tralee Dynamos pitch in Gallowsfield at 7:30pm, admission is €5. Tralee General were victorious last year so no doubt ‘The Bons’ will be out for revenge.

“Everyone has been touched by the work done by the Palliative Care Unit so it will be great if people can come out and support us,” said Bon Secours team captain Chris Lynch

The game itself will be renamed the Tom Naughton Cup after the Bon Secours member of staff and St Brendan’s Park clubman who sadly passed away last month.  Tom’s son’s Sean and Tom Jnr were there to help launch the event.

“Tom Naughton was a fabulous member of  staff and a close friend so we thought it was fitting to rename the trophy in his honour,” said Chris.

The late Brendan McEvoy and Mike Nagle who were great friends of Kerry General will also be remembered on an occasion which should be a great night for a fantastic cause.
