Ian Brick.
IAN Brick has decided to step down as Kerry Under 21 hurling manager and selector with the senior team.
The Kilmoyley clubman had worked with this squad since Under 14 level, winning 2 All-Ireland Minor titles along the way and leaves a squad with excellent talent and potential, many of whom have stepped up to senior inter county level already.
His statement reads: “I have informed the Kerry County Board of my decision to step down as Manager of the Kerry Under 21 hurlers and as Selector with the Senior hurlers.
I thoroughly enjoyed my six-year involvement and our success over that time was hugely rewarding. But the real enjoyment for me came from being in the privileged position of managing and working with some of Ireland’s most talented hurlers from Kerry at Minor, Under 21 and Senior levels.

I’d like to thank my family for their wonderful support throughout that time and to the dedicated backroom personnel I worked with since 2013, especially hurling officers Ger McCarthy and Paudie Dineen, and Managers Pat Ryan and Fintan O’Connor. I’d like to thank the Kerry County Board for providing me with the opportunity to fulfill my passion for Kerry hurling and I wish all involved good health and success in the future.”
County Board Chairman Tim Murphy extended his appreciation to Ian Brick for his service to the county.
“On behalf of all in Kerry GAA I wish to extend our deep appreciation and thanks to Ian Brick who has announced that he is stepping down as Kerry Under 21 Hurling Manager and Kerry Senior Hurling selector.
This year, Ian succeeded in winning a second consecutive All Ireland with the Kerry under 21 hurlers, a tremendous feat by any yardstick. He worked with this squad all the way up from U-14 level, winning 2 All-Ireland Minor titles along the way and leaves the legacy of a well drilled, ambitious group of hurlers hungry for further success.
A successful player at Club and County level Ian is also regarded as one the premier coaches in the County. I wish Ian and his family all the very best in the future.”
