The Icon of The Holy Family will visit Tralee next month.

ST John’s Church in Tralee will host a visit of the Icon of the Holy Family in April.

The Icon of the Holy Family is a large three panelled piece representing the Holy Family at home, and on either side, Jesus healing a young girl and Jesus at the Wedding festivities at Cana. It was specially commissioned for the World Meeting of Families.

An icon is said to be written rather than painted, as it expresses the Word of God in line and form. This icon was written by Mihai Cicu and assisted by the Redemptoristine Sisters in Dublin.
