THE Managing Director of the IMF was in Dublin yesterday to meet Enda Kenny and wore a Rose of Tralee brooch worth €35.

Mind you, she did also carry a Hermes bag costing a whopping €7,000.

IMF boss, Christine Legarde, who is known as somewhat of a ‘style icon’ wore the silver-plated brooch produced by Newbridge Silverware to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Rose of Tralee.

Accompanying the €35 brooch and black ensemble was a Hermes handbag priced at €7,000 plus.

The Kerry links in Legarde’s visit didn’t stop with the brooch. She also mentioned Peig Sayers saying “Despite what Peig Sayers might say, the Irish economy does not have ‘one foot in the grave and the other foot on its edge’.”

Along with being one of the most powerful women in the world, the 59 year old, twice divorced, mother-of-two Parisian, has in the past featured in ‘Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List’.

Legarde met Enda Kenny, yesterday in Dublin Castle, to discuss the €67.5bn EU/IMF/ECB bailout and Ireland’s financial recovery.
