THE South Munster Citizens Information Service is playing a vital role during the Covid-19 pandemic, remaining open and providing free and confidential assistance and advice for people living and working in Ireland.

Since the start of 2021,  there has been a significant increase in people contacting the Tralee Centre.

They have supported over 528 people so far this month with 1,024 queries, on a wide range of issues including Covid-19, Employment, Education, Health, Income Supports, Social Welfare, Housing and Family Matters.

Frances Clifford, Development Manager in Kerry said; “People can contact us in complete confidence.  We provide free, independent and non-judgmental assistance and advice.

“Even though, due to Covid-19, our drop in services are not currently available, the offices are still staffed and we are busy assisting callers and giving them the tools to make informed decisions and help them to explore options and solutions to any issues they may have. While most issues are dealt with over the phone, we can offer pre-arranged appointments where necessary, in Tralee, Killarney, Listowel & Caherciveen, ensuring Covid-19 guidelines are adhered to.”

Tina Curtin, Frances Clifford, Joe Moloney and Kirsty Nowak at the Tralee branch of the Tralee Citizens Information Services.

Lorraine O’Donovan, Regional Manager for South Munster Citizens Information Service added; “We know this continues to be a difficult time for people and we want everyone to know that we are always here to help, as we have been throughout the pandemic.   Due to Covid-19, we don’t have our dedicated volunteer team at the moment, so the best way to connect with us in the first instance is by phone, email or check out our website which is packed full of useful information.”

The South Munster Citizens Information Service, which is funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board, is a trusted source where the public can access accurate and up-to-date information in an understandable and usable way.

Throughout the pandemic, Citizens Information centres across Cork and Kerry have been working tirelessly to ensure that local communities have access to the information and advice they need at this challenging time.

Sometimes people find themselves faced with unexpected issues and feel they are at a crossroads in their life without a compass. Citizens Information staff are here to provide that compass by ensuring they have the knowledge about their rights and entitlements.

For anyone needing information, advice or have an advocacy issue, they can call a member of the Kerry Citizens Information team on 0761 07 7860 who will be happy to assist and make an appointment if necessary.  The offices are staffed from Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.

Alternatively people can email on tralee@citinfo.ie or log on to www.citizensinformation.ie for further information and contact details.

People can get advice on a wide range of issues from the Citizens Information Service.
