ANYONE interested in a career in accountancy is advised to head along to the Kerry ETB Training Centre at Monavalley this afternoon (Wednesday).

An information day will take place from 12noon and 4.30pm where those visiting will learn about an Accounting Technicians Ireland Certificate for Accounting Technicians course which begins on September 9 at the Tralee centre.

This course is an excellent starting point for people who wish to pursue careers as accounts administrators.

It offers participants the opportunity to develop a broad range of knowledge, skills and competencies which will allow them to work independently in a variety of office environments.

They will learn how to carry out tasks in the areas of payroll and accounting. The mix of subjects is designed to provide students with a solid grounding in business as well as a strong foundation in accountancy.

These Include: Financial Accounting, Taxation, Law & Ethics, and Business Management. The learning outcomes are firmly focused on enabling participants to gain employment as accounting staff.

To obtain the Diploma for Accounting Technicians and full membership of The Institute of Accounting Technicians Ireland you must complete and pass all 1st year and 2nd year exams and have two years relevant work experience.

The examinations are held in May over a two week period with two subjects being examined each week. The duration of each exam is three hours. All the examinations are hand written.
