Joe Flynn 2

The late Joe Flynn.

JOE Flynn, who inspired many with his courageous battle against cancer, has died.

The Rahoonane resident was told his cancer was terminal in August and he fought it every step of the way. By sharing his story online here and in other media he inspired many to stay positive in the face of what lay ahead.

Just a few weeks ago I met him as he watched his beloved Leeds United on TV in the Castle Bar. He had just come out of hospital and was in great spirits. I’m sure all who were present will cherish the memories of the time they shared with him that evening.

Even though I only met the Killorglin native a few times, he left a lasting impression as I’m sure he has on everyone else who has had the good fortune of spending time with him.

Sincerest sympathies to his family wife Breda, daughters Bernie and Joanne, mother Kitty, granddaughter Caitlin, sons-in-law Karl and David, brothers Teddy, Pat, James and Gerard, sister Kathleen, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Funeral arrangements:

Reposing at Mc Elligott’s Funeral Home, Tralee on Friday evening from 4.00PM to 6.30PM followed by removal at 6.30PM to Our Lady and St. Brendan’s Parish Church.

Requiem Mass will take place on Saturday at 11AM followed by burial in New Rath Cemetery.

Family flowers only. Donations in lieu to The Palliative Care Unit, Kerry General Hospital.

House strictly private.
