Irish Water Figures Show 90% Of Kerry Households Have Registered For Charges

downloadNINETY per cent of households have registered for the water charges in Kerry, making it the second most compliant county in Ireland.

From figures published in the Irish Examiner today, only Cavan, who have a 91% sign up rate, beats Kerry to the top of the list.

Just coming fractionally behind Kerry, is the Taoiseach’s own county of Mayo.

In total, out of the 53,532 households in Kerry (based on the 2011 census), 48,362 have signed up for the water charges.

Propping up the bottom of list are Leitrim (57%), Louth (65%) and Dublin (65%).

The figures were obtained from Irish Water under the Freedom of Information Act and counts households signed up before February 23.

Some 1.196m people have registered in the 26 counties for Irish Water, with an average county percentage sign-up of 69%.
