THE Ashe Memorial Hall was a hive of activity Thursday night as ITT Multimedia Graduate and Postgraduate students got a chance to showcase their works to the public.

There was a wide array of work on display to excite the senses from the more accessible to the abstract.

One such project created by BA graduates Laurence Counihan, Daniel Daly and Eoin O’Leary centres around the belief that more and more of our power is being given up to technology, so they created a computer system that generates music algorithmically and takes control away from the musician.

Perhaps an easier idea to get your head around is a short film created by BA graduates Michaela McMahon, Hannah McDonnell, Roisin Donnellan about social media.

Titled “Are You There?”, in the film the more destructive elements of social media are approached, in particular how people grieve on the likes of Facebook and Twitter.

“The feedback we have got is very positive, it’s been nice to open it to the public,” said one of the creators Steven Clifford.

Masters graduate Danielle Swanser attracted a lot of attention with her highly visual piece called “In Memoriam”.

Again the topic Social Media is approached specifically how it shapes our public persona and how our memories are distorted by the amount of pictures we now take.

BA Graduates David Williams and Gordon McCauley created an audio piece through the “immersive 5.1 surround sound experience that will take the listener into the mind of a man driven insane”.

The world of gaming was also represented Alan Kelly and Chris Quain who developed a 3D horror survival game called “The Aurora Project”.

In 14 weeks they designed the game which is about 20 minutes long, they intend to use it towards their work placement and plan to make further games in the future.
