Centre At IT Tralee To Receive €200,000 In Funding

Cara 1A CENTRE at the Institute of Technology Tralee will receive €200,000 in government funding it was announced recently.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD and Minister of State for Regional Economic Development, Michael Ring TD announced last Thursday an investment package of almost €1.5 million in Dormant Accounts Funding for Sport.

It was revealed that  €200,000 of this will be allocated to the Cara Adapted Physical Activity Centre within the Institute of Technology Tralee to further support the delivery of specialised disability training courses.

The CARA Adapted Physical Activity Centre Ltd. is the National Resource Centre for Adapted Physical Activity. It is a joint initiative between the Irish Sports Council and IT Tralee, with its office situated in ITT.

It has responsibility for leading, coordinating and supporting the development of sport, physical activity and physical education for people with disabilities. In particular it is a national resource for supporting and facilitating the Sports Inclusion Disability Programme within the local sport partnership structure throughout Ireland.
