A GROUP of ten second year student nurses from the IT in Tralee are taking part in a challenge  organised by Kerry Sports Acadamy to raise funds for University Hospital Kerry and all involved in taking on the pandemic at the moment.

The ladies formed a team to take part in the 14 day Team Step Challenge where teams are formed aiming to complete 1 million steps in order to raise funds for the Friends of University Hospital Kerry in the fight against the Covid-19 virus. The fundraiser has had a great response with 180 people signed up to take on the challenge.

According to student nurse, Rita Sheehy, her team’s effort is “just a little something to show our appreciation for the tough jobs they have!”

Another member of the team, Sandra Courtney said in a post; “We will be tracking our steps using the Stridekick app and posting our progress along the way. Having all carried out placements in UHK, we know first hand how hard the staff of UHK work to provide care for their patients. So we are hoping to give back in a time when they need it most. We are asking you to please donate €5 to the link below if able.” If you would like to support the fundraiser, click here to go to the gofundme page.
