JAMES O’DONOGHUE has picked up an injury that put him out of Legion’s county championship opener, while David Moran will have his shoulder looked at today after taking a knock at the weekend.

O’Donoghue was meant to start Legion’s championship opener against Mid Kerry, but had to be sidelined with a calf injury.

The injury, which will keep O’Donoghue out of action for a week is not as bad as first anticipated.

The 2014 Player of The Year, had just recently made his return to competitive football after undergoing shoulder surgery at the end of last year.

David Moran, also picked up a knock to his shoulder at the weekend in Kerins O’Rahilly’s loss to Rathmore. The 2014 All-Star is scheduled to have it checked today.

It is now, three weeks until Kerry start their All-Ireland defence against the winner of Tipperary v Waterford. Should they get over that test the Munster Final will take place on July 5.

O’Donoghue missed out on Legion’s win over last year’s county finalists, Mid Kerry. The Killarney’s side further enhanced their championship credentials with a 1-13 to 0-14 win after extra time.

Kerins O’Rahilly’s lost to Rathmore, but will get a second chance when they face the losers of Dingle and Miltown/Castlemaine which has gone to a replay.

Austin Stacks got over, St Michael’s/Foilmore with the minimum of fuss, while St Brendans sustained a demoralising 22 point defeat at the hands of Kenmare District.
