THE John Delaney drapery store on Ashe Street is to close its doors for the last time in the next few months.
The store which has been open for 37 years is closing due to the retirement of its proprietor, Marian Delaney.
Marian has been running the shop, since her husband and the namesake of the shop sadly passed away six years ago.
Continued below…She has fond memories of her time there, but when asked if she would miss the work, she cheerfully replied that she wouldn’t.
“No VAT, no revenue…no nothing,” she laughed.

She has plans to rent out the shop after retiring, but as of yet, she has nobody in mind. The shop is currently having a 25% sale on everything as it enters the final months of its tenure.
