MitchelsSENIOR TOWN CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL

Kerins O’Rahillys 0-16 John Mitchels 2-10 (AET)

The game was played in driving wind and rain at a bitterly cold Caherina. Despite the conditions, both teams were fully committed and could not be separated after extra time. Both teams lined out without a host of regulars and served up an entertaining encounter full of honest endeavour. Nially Sheehy 3 pts, Alan O’Donoghue 2 pts, Bryan Costello 1 pt in total scoring 6 pts in the first half leaving us 6 pts to 2 pts ahead.

The home side bossed the second half but a Josh O’Reilly goal, with time almost up nudged us ahead. However Rahillys rallied to take the game to extra time.
With both teams tiring in the heavy conditions, the home side took the initiative to edge in front. A last gasp goal by Bryan Costello in injury time put John Mitchels ahead. However the home side rallied again and equalised with the last kick of the game. Great credit is due to both teams in serving up a thrilling game in poor conditions.
