SENIOR MEN CO LEAGUE – Round 5:
We played An Gaeltacht away last Saturday evening. Conditions were blustery with a strong wind favouring An Gaeltacht in the 1st half. Jack Myers replaced Dan Kerins in the starting 15 for John Mitchels before the throw in.

An Gaeltacht opened up the scoring with a point from a free in the 1st minute by their free taker Sean M O Conchuir. Alan O’Donoghue levelled the match with a point from play.

Gaeltacht responded with 2 points from play. Alan O’Donoghue converted a point from a free which was followed by a converted Gaeltacht free leaving the score after 15 minutes Gaeltacht 0-05, John Mitchels 0-02.

Gaeltacht scored two further points before half time and Alan O’Donoghue scored a point from play just before half time leaving the score An Gaeltacht 0-06 John Mitchels 0-03.
With the wind in their favour, Mitchels quickly levelled the game with 3 Alan O’Donoghue points, 2 from play and 1 from a free.

An Gaeltacht responded with a point from play followed by 2 excellent long range points from Shane O’Connor leaving Mitchels 0-08 to 0-07 going into the last quarter.

An Gaeltacht scored 2 points from play giving them a 1 point lead heading into the last 5 minutes. Conor Hurley levelled the match once more with a point from play.

Gaeltacht forged ahead again with a converted free. Lawrence Bastible scored a point from play in the 30th minute. Just when we thought it was going to be a draw An Gaeltacht converted a long range free in the 31st minute giving them a 1 point victory.

Our lads will take great encouragement from their display and were very unlucky not to Draw the game. Final score An Gaeltacht 0-11, John Mitchels 0-10.
