JUVENILE BLITZ:
On Saturday last Saturday 23rd for the 17th consecutive year we held our annual juvenile football tournament for the U-8 & U-10 age groups.

Once again this football blitz was an outstanding success with 24 teams enjoying a great day of football. We had 12 teams at both U8 and U10 age groups, these teams were John Mitchels, Austin Stacks, Na Gaeil, Castleisland Desmonds, Churchill, Ballymacelligott, Kerins O’Rahilly’s, Ardfert, Cordal, Keel, St. Pats and Beale.

In all over 500 players enjoyed a fantastic day of football and with over sixty games of football played we had many stars of the future on show.

The U8 blitz was non-competitive with all teams playing five games.

The U10 blitz was run on a league basis, we had two groups of 6 teams, with the winners of each group playing in the final, Austin Stacks and Cordal contested a riveting final. It is worth noting that it was Cordals first year participating in the Blitz.

Thanks to all the teams and team mentors who took part on the day. Thanks also to all the referees who volunteered on the day and made sure that once again this tournament was an outstanding success.

On a club level a huge thank you to chief organiser Kevin McMahon and his team of volunteers, to Centre Manager Humphrey and to Noel, James, John, Paul and Paudie who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the blitz and who ensured all six pitches were lined on the day.

Thanks also to the car park attendants and to the many  ladies  who helped to run the club shop on the day.

A final thanks to the club members who volunteered on the day and  helped to ensure this blitz was once again an outstanding success. Well done to all involved.

STRICTLY COME DANCING:
The 2nd John Mitchels Stictly Come Dancing Launch took place at our complex in Ballyseedy Friday evening last at which their photographs were taken by the local papers.

The atmosphere was electric and everybody looked fantastic. Afterwards everyone went to Balygarry House Hotel  where they were treated to complementary bar food.

Training has already commenced and will continue until October 29th so we would like to wish all the couples Good Luck in their training and enjoy the experience.

U 14 LADIES:
We lost to Strand Road last Monday evening away in Ballyrickard in joint North Kerry and Town League game. Mitchels were leading at half time but in the second half the play went against us and we lost by 6 points. Well done to the team who never gave up.
This result now means that we have to play Rahillys again in a 3 way play off with the winners away to Beale/Ballduff.

We play Na Gaeil away in the Town League on Mon 25th Sept at 6.15 pm in Killeen.

U16 LADIES:
We are waiting to Play Beale/Ballyduff in the last rd of the north Kerry league.

Date will be sent out once date is confirmed. Training continues on Sundays at 12.30 p.m.

U6s:
Training continues next Sunday morning 11.00 a.m. – 12.00 noon.

U8s:
Well despite a very windy day last Saturday we had a great turnout for out annual Kevin McMahon U8 & U10 boys blitz. We had 2 U8 teams and had 5 games each and even though it was very windy and wet towards the end both teams performed brilliantly showing their skills and great team work. Our thanks to all the other teams for taking part and all the volunteers for all their help. Juvenile training continues next Sunday 10.30 to 12.00pm all newcomers welcome.

U 10 Boys
We held our major blitz last Saturday and the day started lovely but windy. We split out team into two equal halves  and played one team in the first half and the other in the second half. This was a great idea as all our players got great game time and we got to support each other. We played well in all the games and the lads gave great commitment showing that they all can play football with the best of them. As some teams only brought their best players we struggled in some games but all the boys gave it their all, well done. The weather got so bad at the end we called off the last game and everyone went home to dry off. Training again next Sunday and we would like to thank the organiser Kevin McMahon and his team of referees.
