MENS SENIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION 1:
Round 2 – John Mitchels v Dingle

Before the commencement of the match a Minute’s Silence was observed on the recent tragic death of Aodhán O’Connor from Dingle.

We played Dingle at home in Round 2 of the Co League on  a perfect day for football with bright sunshine and a slight cross field breeze. Dingle opened the scoring with a point from play from Cathal O’Bambaire.

Mitchels levelled the game with a point from Wayne Conway which was quickly followed by a further point from Cathal O’Bambaire. Mitchels dominated the remainder of the 1st quarter with points from play from Lawrence Bastible and 3 points from frees from the boot of James Duggan and Niall Sheehy leaving the score line of 0-05 to 0-02 in favour of John Mitchels after the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter Dingle scored 2 points from frees and Mitchels tagged on a point from play from James Duggan and a converted free from Niall Sheehy leaving a halftime score of 0-07 to 0-04 in favour of John Mitchels.

John Mitchels opened the scoring of the 2nd half with a point from play from Alan O’Donoghue followed by 2 points from Dingle.

Once more Mitchels dominated the remainder of the 3rd quarter with a point from play from Pat Kearney, 2 points from play by Mikey Kelliher just after being introduced off the bench and a great point from play from Seanie Moloney who soloed the length of the field leaving the scoreline Mitchels 0-12, Dingle 0-06 heading into the last quarter.

Dingle gave their all to narrow the margin scoring 2 points from play and 1 converted free. Mitchels matched them with a point from play from Alan O’Donoghue and a James Duggan goal at the end of the 4th quarter.

Final score John Mitchels 1-13, Dingle 0-09. Mitchels gave a much better performance and played an attractive attacking type of play at today’s match. Next up is Ardfert in the 1st Round of the Championship to be played next Saturday March 31st at 5.00 p.m. In Austin Stacks Park.

It’s great to see all the players improving each week but it’s also important to keep practicing the skills. Training continues next Sunday morning from 10.00am to 11.00am in our sports hall & you never know the Easter Bunny might even pay a visit!!!

U10’s:
Sunday morning weather was wonderful and it was great to see that everyone remembered to put the clock forward and were on time for training. Darragh, Gearoid and Amber worked hard with the tackle bags and took great shots at goal. Ben, Eanna and Lisa put great effort into the passing drills and this really helped with the game. Jack, Luke and Eva worked well with their team mates during the game and had a great influence on some of the scores. Well done to the rest of the players it was great to see you all train so hard, see you all next Sunday.

They get to make friends outside of normal school circles and learn to become part of a team all under the supervision and encouragement of our Coaches and Mentoring staff. We at John Mitchels are planning a busy season for our Juveniles and we would ask parents if they have any feedback or suggestions.
