Co League 2018 – Round 5 Kerins O’Rahillys v John Mitchels:
We played Kerins O’Rahillys in Round 5 of the Senior football league last Saturday evening. Throw in was at 5.00 p.m. and conditions were perfect for football with a dry evening and a light cross field breeze.

O’Rahillys found the net immediately after throw in with a Con Barrett goal which was followed by 2 further points from O’Rahillys. Mitchels responded with 3 points from play from Alan O’Donoghue and Steven O’Mahony. O’Rahillys added on a further point from play which was followed by a Seán Maloney point from play leaving the 1st quarter scoreline 1-03 to 0-04 points.

O’Rahillys completed dominated the 2nd quarter by adding 7 further points and Mitchels could only  manage 1 point, a converted free by Wayne Duggan leaving the half time score O’Rahillys 1-10 John Mitchels 0-05.

The same trend continued throughout the 2nd half and Mitchels could only add a further 4 points, 2 converted frees from Wayne Duggan and 2 points from Alan O’Donoghue.

Kerins O’Rahillys added 6 further points to their tally in the 2nd half leaving the final score Kerins O’Rahillys 1-16 John Mitchels 0-09.

George Lowe Registrar will be available to collect Membership Fees between 7.30-8.30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Stephen Brosnan, Juvenile Registrar will be available to collect Juvenile Membership Fees between 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 noon on Sunday Mornings.

It is essential that all Juveniles are registered. Unregistered Players are not covered by the GAA Insurance Scheme.

Last Sunday saw John Mitchels U8 boys and girls working on their fitness levels. The coaches were in bright and early to set up a few obstacle courses and challenges for them and we’re happy to report that they are all super fit!!
Next week we will be moving from the Astro pitch to our Juvenile training pitch so don’t forget boys and girls keep on practicing!! Training continues every  Sunday morning 10.30am to 12.00pm GUM SHIELDS ESSENTIAL.

The Under 10s had a great training session on Sunday with everyone putting in a great effort. Hand passing, kick passing and all the rest of the skills were practised. The Game at the end was very competitive with great tackling, passing and scores, well done everyone. Those of you who are under 9, (under 8 last year) will have a Blitz in Caherslee on Wednesday, look out for the text.

John Mitchels are commencing their Clothes Collection again for 2018 so please donate any unwanted Clothes and Textiles (clean re-wearable clothes, paired shoes, belts, handbags, curtains, towels, bed linen, soft toys are accepted) Where possible please donate at least 3+ bags – this really does raise much needed funds for our Club. Please drop items to the the Complex, Ballyseedy.

Our Bingo continues on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights. Bingo is a vital fundraiser for the Club and all funds raised from the Bingo goes directly back into the Club and all support is greatly appreciated. Any member who wishes to volunteer can do so by giving their details to any club officer.

Our Sports Complex at Camp Ballyseedy is available for bookings on the Sports Hall and All Weather pitch. The Complex is also open for children’s parties. MERCHANDISE: Please note that all club merchandise is now available for purchasing only through Henneberys Sports Shop, Ashe St, Tralee and is no longer for sale at our complex in Ballyseedy. Please also note that our Club colours are – Green and Gold Jerseys, White togs and Green and Gold socks.
