Co League 2018 – Round 10  – Spa Killarney v John Mitchels:
We played Spa Killarney in Round 10 of the Senior County League away last Saturday evening. It was a perfect evening for football and Mitchels played with a slight breeze in the 1st half.
Mitchels completely dominated the 1st quarter scoring 1-05 to 0-01 to Spa with Niall Sheehy scoring 1-02 and points from Alan O’Donoghue, Sean Moloney and Stephen O’Mahony. Spa got their first score in the 14th minute from a point from a free from Evan Cronin.
The pattern continued in the 2nd quarter leaving the half time score Spa 1-03 to
Mitchels 1-11.

Spa opened the scoring in the 2nd half with a Cian Tobin point in the 2nd minute of play. Mitchels followed with points from James Duggan, Niall Sheehy and an Alan O’Donoghue goal stretching Mitchels lead even further as Spa could only manage a further 3 points in the 3rd quarter leaving the score 1-07 to 2-13 in favour of Mitchels leading into the last quarter.
Spa turned the game on its head scoring 3 goals in succession, 2 from Evan Cronin and 3 points and in contrast Mitchels managed 1 point from James Duggan.

This put Spa 2 points ahead approaching the final whistle but Mitchels rallied and Niall Sheehy converted 2 frees at the death resulting in drawing the game giving a final score Spa 4-10 to Mitchels 2-16. This was a highly entertaining game and even though Mitchels conceded a big lead they managed to salvage the game from the jaws of defeat in the last minute of play.
