U8 & U10 BLITZ:
On last Saturday we held our annual U8 and U10 blitz. This was the 17th year we have held this tournament. Over 450 children took part with 12 clubs playing in both age groups.

In the U8 age group there was 30 games played with each team having 5 games. It was played in a total non-competitive format with every child getting plenty of playing time.

The U10 teams were split into 2 groups with 6 teams in each group. Each team had 5 games in the group stage. It was great to see all the Clubs giving plenty of playing time to all their squads.

Our own team came out on top in their group with Churchill winning their group. It a good competitive final, Churchill proved a bit too strong and were eventual winners. Churchill have taken part every year since the tournament started and this is the first year that they have won it outright. A huge congratulations to the Churchill players and mentors.

The club would like to thank all those who helped make this another great success. To Humphrey and his team who looked after the traffic management, for those who got the pItches ready, the volunteers in the shop who kept us all well fed and to the referees who gave up their time to help us and in particular those who came from the other clubs.

It was great to see all the skills of the game on show by the youngsters which shows the future of football is looking good.

U10s:
ALL roads led to Ballyseedy on Saturday last for the annual Kevin McMahon Blitz. Our boys and girls were drawn in a tough group against some old foes and new. First up were neighbours Austin Stacks and after a hard fought game we came out on top by the bare minimum. Next up was Miltown/Castlemaine who were very skilful but again our little band of warriors had enough in hand for a four point win. We followed with wins over Firies and St Pats Blennerville which guaranteed us a place in the Final. Our last group game against Cordal was another close match but again our boys and girls proved equal to the challenge. With five wins from five we were on a high going to the final in which we faced a likewise unbeaten Churchill team. Although we battled hard, earlier efforts took their toll on a tired team and Churchill proved too strong for us in the end. Our u10s put in some great performances and should be very proud of their efforts in the tournament, playing and behaving impeccably throughout.
Squad – Nathan Sharma, Ava Sharma, Sean Murphy, Èanna Ryle, Jacob O’Donnell, Jack Collins, Brogan Hurley, Lisa O’Shea, Daniel Farmer, Jack Noonan, Gearoid White, Jim O’Dowd, Jack Donovan, Ben Murphy, Tomas Rumpler Foran, Cody Shanahan, Darragh Field, Jack Daly, Paschal Buckley

U8s:
Last weekend was probably our busiest of the year so far. Saturday saw us enter our 2nd year U8s into our annual Kevin McMahon Blitz which we played 5 games and we’re happy to report our boys did very well in all their games. Sunday we entertained Clare side Lissycasey for a few challenge games.  Both sides gave a great display of football and were all treated to goody bags afterwards. Training continues next Sunday morning from 10.30am to 12.00pm until then kids keep on practicing.
